The article attempts to determine the level of bank clients' knowledge about the deposit guarantee system in Poland. In order to achieve this goal, a survey research has been carried out in the Kujawy-Pomerania province. On the basis of the research results it is possible to state that clients are aware of the existence of the deposit guarantee system in Poland but their knowledge of the principles and conditions of how the system functions is very limited. This leads to the conclusion that banks should start a broad program of financial education aimed at society as a whole to keep and strengthen clients' confidence.
