The article presents an evaluation of the preparations banks have made to implement the New Basel Capital Accord in the light of the results of surveys conducted by KPMG, Financial Times Research Centre, Ernst & Young, Risk Magazine and PricewaterhouseCoopers. For a more complete picture of the problem, the results QIS3 and QIS5 studies of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision are also presented, which aim to investigate the influence of the new rules on the capital requirements of banks. The statistics in the article are presented not only according to geographical regions: the world, Central and Eastern Europe and Poland, but also according to the main problems such as project phase, chosen approaches to Credit and Operational Risk measurement and size of the budget allocated for the implementation of the New Accord.
