Excessive fiscalism is one the main factors hindering the economic growth, decreasing the competitiveness and impeding the solution of burning social and economic problems which afflict most of the European countries. So far, however, only a few of them have decided to take the politically unpopular step of reducing the public sector's involvement in the economy, which results in achieving higher economic growth rates and higher level of income and consequently increases the capability of overcoming crisis phenomena.
