Mirosław Dusza Financial Global Village. Capital Market 2002+
The paper presents in a summary form the development level (financial instruments and institutions) of capital markets operating at the turn of the nineties and the current decade. On this basis the author presents main development trends prevailing in that period, which could be important for the shape of the global financial market in the future. They include:
- strong expansion of equity markets in the nineties,
- shift in capital sources from internal markets to markets international in nature,
- progressing unification of financial markets within the European Union,
- expansion of investment opportunities into new, so far practically not existing markets in emerging countries.
The paper concludes by indicating significant problems of the capital market that occurred in recent years, connected with the reliability of the capital market as a whole. A series of events connected with so-called creative banking focused attention on the issue: who is the actual beneficiary of advantages connected with the operation of listed companies, and who is only a capital provider.
