Krzysztof Opolski The Quality of Quality Management, or Leader's Moral Imperatives
An organisation's success is usually viewed through the perspective of its capital or material resources, the competitiveness of its products or services, its technological advantage etc. Unfortunately, it is rarely noted that organisational success is also determined by the quality of the management, the ability to create a coherent company culture or the charisma of its leaders.
Many managers of today still fail to see this truth. Seeking cheap popularity and quick profits, indiscriminately convinced of their infallibility and strength of management, they tend to marginalise their own managerial capacity as a factor of organisational success.
The paper highlights the need for a modern approach to management, which is described in qualitative dimensions, with a special focus on quality leadership. We underline the fact that the quality of management is not exclusively about managing the company and its staff efficiently; it is also a moral paradigm, a need to live up to certain moral standards and contribute to the ethos of a business leader.
The paper is targeted at all managers who consciously undertake the effort of managing a company, insurance company, a bank, etc., in the hope that they recognize management as, among other things, a major obligation and moral challenge; a responsibility towards others and not in the least oneself.
