Ireneusz Badowski The role of internal control in a commercial bank's search for ISO 9000 certificate
A commercial bank cannot allow to lower the quality of services or products offered to its customers since it may lead to a loss in its income, prestige and capability to act in the future
Due to the above, the bank's management improves its control and supervision systems which provide for reliable information that give the possibility to correct irregularities before they result in serious losses.
Analyzing the objectives of functional controls in a commercial bank, it seems obvious that it is the internal (institutional) control, becoming increasingly important element of the management policy under the Article 9 of the Banking Law, that may help and helps its organization in obtaining ISO 9000 certificate.
In commercial banks, where the management designated their internal audit departments to manage the activity before obtaining ISO certificate, control the quality and analyze resulting costs, a comprehensive quality management, depending on banks' management, seems to reach highest quality levels.
